We went early on a Friday night and were pleased to find it not too crowded. We started with the wood-fired oysters, nicely done with great flavor. The arugula salad was fresh and well-balanced. My wife had the pan-seared rainbow trout, which was perfectly cooked and paired with delicious caramelized vegetables. I had the BBQ-grilled swordfish which was also nicely prepared. The attention to detail in plating made each dish visually appealing. For dessert, we shared a slice of key lime pie. It had just the right balance of sweetness and tartness, and the portion size was perfect, not overwhelming. I tried the Ultimate Margarita, which I felt could have been a bit larger. The Icelandic salt rim looked appealing but was intensely salty and didn’t add much to the drink. However, the wines by the glass were excellent. Our server was kind, courteous, and attentive without being intrusive. She offered great recommendations and was genuinely friendly. Overall, we were very impressed and will definitely return—next time with friends!

So if you have really read my reviews, you know that I am a service Lead reviewer. I really enjoyed the multitasking of the service from the general manager, Sean and the staff as the collaborative efforts in the hotel to serve the guest to keep the service at a high standard, and the teamwork that they displayed throughout the entire time was amazing!!!! Actually went for brunch, which I took my mom for Mother’s Day And we had a great time. So if you’re looking for a place for brunch that has great food options a mixture of seafood meats brunch favorites this is the spot for you. I will save the banana pancakes and the oysters with the tequila chili amazing. They actually grill them Which makes amazing taste for a brunch menu. Now I will say if you read my reviews, I’m always big about people making recommendations about what drinks are great for your pairing. But the unlimited drink menu that you can add to the brunch was a fave. So if you have friends or family in town, I would definitely recommend Opal. Enjoy your visit. FYI: the tiramisu is a dining experience with the addition on the side. Order and explore. Won’t be disappointed. -goldensoul

Just enjoyed a delicious dinner alfresco at this neighborhood gem! Food was outstanding. New item, (lightly) fried trumpet mushrooms, disappeared quickly. The creamy pea risotto is a next-level comfort meal and the rockfish was perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and efficient. Well done, Opal! Will definitely visit your second restaurant in Chevy Chase Lake when it opens in November.

Had a Founders meeting at Opal. From the food to service, Opal gets my vote of confidence. Everything was served to perfection. Beautiful atmosphere in NW DC. Eggs and Carvier, grilled oysters, margaritas all my faves. Thanks to the Chef too!

What a great little spot! Had the clam spaghetti appetizer, scallops, and key lime pie, all of which were absolutely delicious. Cozy, not too loud (which I really appreciate), and very attentive servers. Chico provided excellent recommendations and service throughout the entire meal! Definitely will return.

Absolutely outstanding from start to finish!! Service was prompt, attentive, and personalized! Waitress took time to walk through the menu and options. Food was amazing and one of the best values in the city! Decor is beautiful but the vibe is so nice and relaxed. Will definitely be returning!

Came here recently Friday night for my birthday dinner with friends—overall it was great! Service was good too. Food was delicious! Highly recommend the Maine Lobster Ravioli, Clams with Saffron Spaghetti, Dry Aged Roseda Beef Striploin, and Mushroom Risotto. For shareables, the Wood Fired Oysters and Crispy Brussel Sprouts were good, but wasn’t a huge fan of the Ricotta Dumplings. For desserts, we tried all three desserts but I only enjoyed the Key Lime Pie. Cocktails were pretty good! We ordered different rounds of shots and they came out pretty tasty. Parking is a bit tough here—there’s street parking if you can find a spot, or there’s a small parking lot in the back but not too safe if you’re by yourself.

Great establishment for brunch with excellent service and food! The staff members at this restaurant were very professional and helpful. The level of service offered was noteworthy, from the manager to the server to the staff from the kitchen that delivered our food. A big thank you to the entire team for delivering a seamless and consistent great experience. The food was delicious. The eggs benedict were made perfectly and the taste was on point. The smash burger was a solid burger cooked and seasoned to perfection. The only critique I have is that the fries that accompanied the burger could’ve been served better — I found that the temperature of the fries were a little on the colder end and not as crispy as I was expecting. The seasoning was good, however! The best part of the meal was the dessert — the tiramisu and the key lime pie. Both were delicious and definitely worth the order. Overall a great experience both in terms of service and food. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere to visit in the area! Hoping to return for dinner some time soon!
